It all started like this: One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. I have heard of this beautiful story over and over again – Saint Valentine died because he wanted love to be fully expressed. Valentine is all about love and that is why we all try to show it distinctively every February 14 of each year. But our youth, I mean the unmarried, how do they perceive today being February 14, they claim it is valentine but to me, I know it is violent-time .
