OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL- INGREDIENTS FOR ANSWERED PRAYER- 06/04/2014

Yesterday’s message was titled “WHY THE WORLD RACES”. Today’s message is titled “INGREDIENTS FOR ANSWERED PRAYER as provided by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise
Psalms 66:18: "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:". and read Matthew 6:9-13  The Bible in one year for today has been taken from Ezekiel 44:15 to Ezekiel 46:18 and Psalm 77:1-10.(Adeboye, 2014).

Quoted below is today’s message for our usual discussion

"Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us an outline of the pattern our prayers should follow in what is called the Lord's Prayer. We must draw some eternal lessons on how to get answers to our prayers by studying the few words of this outline. The first lesson is that, we must acknowledge the Fatherhood of God if we want to receive answers to our prayers. This is why those who argue that God has no children are short-changing themselves. Jesus Christ in Matthew 15:26"said:
”It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to_ dogs.”
Who are the dogs? The Bible defines them in Revelation 22:1 5:
”For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”
Another lesson from the Lord's Prayer is that only those who hallow or honour, or have regard for the Name of the Lord can have their prayers answered. The Bible in Exodus 20:7 says:
”Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.’.
How do you take the name of the Lord in vain? By not living out the life of a Christian you claim to be. Apostle Paul wrote this concerning such people in Romans 2:21 &24:
”Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.”
Also, is it not an exercise in futility if you pray earnestly for the kingdom of God to come and when it comes, you are nowhere to be found in it? Because it is written: ”For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” Ephesians 5:5
Finally, every child of God must seek the will of God to be done here on earth in this perverted generation as if we were in Heaven. Contrary to the dictates of this world, its fashions and manner of living, children of God who want to be effective in their prayer life must ensure that they are not influenced by the present day so-called civilization, modern ideas and unfounded fundamental human rights that are not given by our Father Who Art in Heaven."

The prayer point is Holy Spirit Divine; teach me how to pray effectively.

God bless you all for your contribution. Have a nice weekend.

Let Thy Pain Drive Thee

N ecessity, they say, is the mother of invention. Something becomes a necessity when its presence is required; its absence might also cause a little amount of pain. So, when people begin to find alternatives to reducing these pain, invention sprung up. So, I say, “let thy pain direct thee”. Life has never been a bed of roses and it will never be as long as humanity exist. Therefore, we all should expect pain in different levels. Sometimes the pain might be more. Other times, it might be less. But the fact remains that we will all experience pain in different aspect of our lives. But more importantly is the ability to learn from every pain we suffer or endure. Over the years, I realized that every good thing is wrapped in the arms of pain. Therefore, to claim a good thing, one has to overpower pain to achieve this goodness. Globally, economic and financial reports over decades have shown that inflation, depreciation and losses are consistent with human lives. In fact, the so c...

Open Heavens 2014 daily devotion - Thursday July 31- A Friend In Jesus

Memorise: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14 Read: 1 Samuel 20:16-17 16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies. 17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul. Bible in a Year: Matthew 16:5-18:35; Message: A friend is someone who you share your heart with and who you can trust. A friend is also a person you like a lot. There are different categories of friends. There is a friend in need who is a friend indeed. This is a friend who helps you when you really need help. Ideally, friendship is reciprocal and the Bible enjoins those who have friends to reciprocate with a friendly attitude. Proverbs 18:24 says: “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Jonathan was a friend indeed to David. He could perceive ...
