ARE YOU A CARROT, EGG OR COFFEE BEAN?

A young woman told her mother how hard her life was. She didn't know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed that as she solved a problem, another one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first pot, she placed carrots. In the second pot, she placed eggs. In the last pot, she put coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.
After about 20 minutes, she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out, and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out, and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and place it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter she asked '' What do you see? ''.'' Carrots, eggs and coffee '' the daughter replied. The mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did, noticing that they had become soft. The mother again asked her to take one egg and break it, pulling off the shell, she discovered the hard-boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its richness.
'' But what's the point mother '' the daughter asked.
The mother explained that each of this 3 things had faced the same adversity --BOILING WATER-- but each reacted differently.
The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However, subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.
The fragile egg had an outer shell to protect its liquid interior. But after going through the boiling water, it became hard & stronger inside.
But the coffee beans were different. When they were in the boiling water, they TRANSFORM the water into something sweet. '' When adversity comes knocking '' the mother asked ''
How do you react? Are you a carrot, egg or coffee bean? '' Which are u?

Are u like the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do u wilt, become soft and lose your strength? Are u like the egg that started with a flexible heart but changes with the heat? Do u start out with a fluid spirit, but after a loss, a break up, a financial loss, or some other trial have u become hardened and stiff? Does your shell look the same, but is your inside bitter and tough with a hardened heart? Or are u like the coffee bean? When the water gets hot, the coffee bean releases its fragrance and flavour for everyone's benefit. The coffee bean uses the hot water, the very circumstance that brought pain, to transform itself and the water. '' If you are like the coffee bean, when things are at their WORST, improve yourself and TRANSFORM the situation around you ''.

LOVE & SPIRITUAL GIFTS [Friday May 23, 2014] Memorise: Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.   1 Corinthians 14:1 Bible in a Year: Genesis 48-50; Psalm 108 Read:   1 Corinthians 12:1-2 1  Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2  Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Message: Our God is the Almighty. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is also good and His mercy endures forever. One character of God that is transmissible through us is love. How do we show that we know God? It is by showing His love ( 1 John 4:8 ). Let us love one another. Let’s demonstrate the love of God to our brethren. Let’s show them that we care. The people we are to show love to includes those that are lovable and those that do not deserve our love. Do you love your critics? Do you love your persecutors? Do you love the un...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL-SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS - 21/03/2014

SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS - 21/03/2014 Yesterday’s message was titled “ THE WAY OF ESCAPE   ”. Today’s message is titled “ SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS ” as provided by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise  2Timothy 4:2:   "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all Iongsuffering and doctrine. and read   Luke 8:38-40.     The Bible in one year for today has been taken from   Ezekiel 16-12 and Psalms 67:1 -68:6   (Adeboye, 2014). The message is quoted below. God bless you for your contribution "There is one great sin of omission that contemporary followers of Jesus Christ are guilty of. We enjoy God's grace, forgiveness, healing, breakthrough, P9309 and joy but fail to share the good news with others so that they may become beneficiaries of the benevolence of the Almighty God. We tend to take interest in staying in our beautif...
