Open Heavens 2014 daily devotion - Thursday July 31- A Friend In Jesus

Memorise: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14 Read: 1 Samuel 20:16-17 16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies. 17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul. Bible in a Year: Matthew 16:5-18:35; Message: A friend is someone who you share your heart with and who you can trust. A friend is also a person you like a lot. There are different categories of friends. There is a friend in need who is a friend indeed. This is a friend who helps you when you really need help. Ideally, friendship is reciprocal and the Bible enjoins those who have friends to reciprocate with a friendly attitude. Proverbs 18:24 says: “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Jonathan was a friend indeed to David. He could perceive ...

Open Heavens 2014 daily devotion: Tuesday July 22- TOTAL COMPLIANCE REQUIRED

Memorise: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10 Bible in a Year: Deuteronomy 29:1-31:13 Read: Malachi 3:8-10 8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Message : When we teach about tithes and first fruits, some people think that it is the pastor’s way of making money but they are making a great mistake. When you put God first, He...

Open Heavens daily devotion Tuesday July 15– FORGETTING YOUR SOURCE?

Topic:  FORGETTING YOUR SOURCE? Memorise: And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.Deuteronomy 8:17 Bible in a Year: Deuteronomy 12-13; Read:   Deuteronomy 8:7-14 7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;  8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; 9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.  10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.  11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:  12 Lest when thou hast eaten ...

You Are Valuable—Because You Are Loved!

BIBLE MEDITATION: “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”   Romans 5:8 DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Grace is the most beautiful word in the Bible other than Jesus. Grace is why God loves us when there is nothing lovely about us. We are not loved because we are valuable. We are valuable because we are loved.   1 John 4:10   says, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” That, friend, is God’s amazing grace. We are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. I love Him for His grace. It is all Jesus. It’s not the church. It’s not good deeds. Amazing grace is in the Lord Jesus Christ. He loves you. He died for you. ACTION POINT: Thank God for the justification you have through Jesus Christ. Thank God for the grace He has abundantly given you.

Open Heavens 2014: Thursday July 10, daily devotion – SATAN INTIMIDATES

SATAN INTIMIDATES Memorise: The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 Bible in a Year: Deuteronomy 1:1-2:25 Read: 1 Samuel 17:24-25 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid. 25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel. Message: When Goliath came to the battlefield, he took the form of a big problem but later he became a big opportunity. He came as a mighty obstacle but turned into a mighty door of opportunity when God stepped in. Every giant who stands in your way this season shall become a door to your breakthrough in Jesus’ Name. The Redemption Camp grounds used to be the headquarters of highway armed robbers as well as the abod...

Open Heavens 2014: Wednesday July 9, daily devotion– NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD

Topic: NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD Memorise: Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. Ezekiel 36:25 Read: Psalm 40:1-2 1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Bible in a Year:  Numbers 34-36 Message: Before you are saved, you are first drawn by God. It can be through a message, some miraculous act or even a divine visitation. God has been searching for you from the day of your birth but you may have ignored Him for too long. He may have used your friends, relatives and different media to reach out to you, but His message may have fallen on deaf ears. It is time to accept Him today so that all may be well with you. After drawing you, the next thing God does is ...

Not Allowing Past Sins to Silence Our Witness

BIBLE MEDITATION: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”   1 John 1:9 DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: A young preacher was called out of a life of sin to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. While in the pulpit one day, he received a note in which someone had written all his past sins. In addition it read, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? And you’re up there telling people to get right with God!”   Do you know what the young preacher did? He read that note, bowed his head in prayer, stood up and said, “Ladies and gentleman I have received a note, and here is what it says.” Then, in front of that whole crowd, he read every one of those sins. Then he said this: “Yes, I am ashamed of myself, but I am not ashamed of my Savior!”   ACTION POINT: What are some past sins in your life that are holding you back from fully proclaiming God’s power to others? Confess them and bury them in His sea of forgetful...

Open Heavens 2014 daily devotion – CURSED BLESSING

Topic:   CURSED BLESSING [Tuesday July 8, 2014] Memorise: Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.   Hosea 4:17 Read:   Hosea 5:8-15 8   Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.  9   Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be. 10   The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.  11   Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.  12   Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.  13   When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.  14   For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion,...

Open Heavens 2014: Friday July 4, daily devotion – FEAR DISALLOWED

Topic: FEAR DISALLOWED Memorise: For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. Psalm 89:17 Bible in a Year: Numbers 22:22-24:25; Read: Psalm 89:15-18 15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. 17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. 18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king. Message: The first time you are confronted with a golden opportunity that will catapult you into greatness, you may think that your end has finally come. This season, giant opportunities will come to you. They will be so big that you will not miss them, but know this: they may camouflage as problems. Don’t be scared but rather rejoice that your change has come at last. Remember that after David was anoi...

Open Heavens 2014 daily devotion: Thursday July 3, by– NO WAIVERS

Topic: NO WAIVERS Memorise: Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Hebrews 5:8 Bible in a Year: Numbers 20:10-22:21 Read: Hebrews 5:8-9 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Message: Ministry is in stages. You start from being an onlooker – a spectator who is eager to observe and learn, then you move on to being sent, after which you get to the level of going on your own. I recall the first time I laid hands on people in church on returning from a Kenneth Hagin camp meeting in Tulsa, USA in 1979. I saw Kenneth Hagin laying hands on people and they fell under the anointing and received miracles. On my way back to Nigeria, I talked it over with God in the plane. The following Sunday, I asked people to queue up, I laid hands on them, and they fell under the anointing – a practice I ne...

Open Heavens daily devotion 2014: Wednesday July 2– DRAWN BY THE FATHER

Topic: DRAWN BY THE FATHER Memorise: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44 Read: John 6:43-45 43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. Bible in a Year: Numbers 18:1-20:9; Message: “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1 In the above scripture, David did not just say he waited, but that he waited patiently. The implication of this is that the Christian race is not a sprint but a marathon. The journey to Heaven is not something you do in just a day, but rather what may take a whole lifetime. Due to the emphasis placed on...

Open Heavens daily devotional 2014: Tuesday July 1,– PEACE LIKE A RIVER

Topic:   PEACE LIKE A RIVER Memorise: O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Isaiah 48:18 Read:   Isaiah 48:18-19 18  To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?  19  The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains. Bible in a Year: Numbers 16-17 Message: If you desire to combine long life with pleasurable days, you must keep your tongue from evil, do good, and depart from evil. You must seek peace and pursue it. This means that wherever there is a conflict, you must do everything in your power to install peace. You must vigorously follow after peace.  Proverbs 16:7  says, “When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” From this scripture, we see that there is a link between our relationship with God and t...
