Open Heavens 2014: Wednesday July 9, daily devotion– NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD

Topic: NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD

Memorise:
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. Ezekiel 36:25

Read: Psalm 40:1-2
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

Bible in a Year: Numbers 34-36

Message:

Before you are saved, you are first drawn by God. It can be through a message, some miraculous act or even a divine visitation. God has been searching for you from the day of your birth but you may have ignored Him for too long. He may have used your friends, relatives and different media to reach out to you, but His message may have fallen on deaf ears. It is time to accept Him today so that all may be well with you.

After drawing you, the next thing God does is to cleanse you. This is what is commonly called salvation. He said in Ezekiel 36:25 that:

“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.”

Why does He need to cleanse you? Why not accept you the way He found you? It is because God is a holy God. He is perfectly clean. Because God is light, He does not have even the slightest dot of darkness. If the President of your nation wants to invite a poor, wretched, dirty and unkempt beggar who lives on the streets to dine with him, the beggar must first be washed, shaved and dressed in presentable clothes.

Psalm 40:2 says every sinner lives in a horrible pit. Every sinner is stained with sin. We cannot with our physical eyes determine how clean or dirty a person is inwardly. You may be adjudged the neatest and best dressed physically, but be noted as the dirtiest sinner before God. No personal claim to being saved can make you saved except God cleanses you. Sin is such a tough and permanent stain that it takes only the blood of Jesus to wipe it off – nothing else! No sacrifice, no penance, no amount of scriptural recitations can erase sin. If the beggar picked on the streets says he is clean, does that make him clean? Any sin that God has not cleansed with the blood of Jesus is retained to condemn the one who committed it for all eternity. Are you claiming to be born-again when you are still living in sin? You are engaged in self-deception and endangering your life. No religion or philanthropy can erase a single sin from you. Accept God’s offer of salvation now and let Him cleanse you. Acknowledge your sinful life, confess your sins to God and ask Him to cleanse you with His blood today. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord.

Key Point:
Any claim of forgiveness of sin that is not attained through the blood of Jesus is fake.

Valentine or Violent-Time (Part 3)

Over the years, some religious folks have defined and classified February 14 as the devil's day. They argue that the Valentine was not a Saint, and even if he was, it was not proper to keep a day to remember him. By God's grace, I have subjected myself to regular study of the scriptures and godly books in several libraries especially the e-libraries. My philosophy has been guided by the knowledge acquired from comparative and HOLYGHOST inspired study. If God is not against Christmas, and Easter, then why should He be against Valentine's Day? Many of us have known so much that we have created our own "Newer Testament" after the new testament of the Holy Bible. Is God against celebrations? Definitely, No! Jesus visited a wedding in Cana, he was at most Jewish feasts, and He organized a feast by feeding, on one occasion, 5,000 men. Our God loves feasting. He loves to see us celebrate. But all feastings must be done in Holiness in order to be approved ...

Yesterday’s message was titled “ ARE YOU A FALSE WITNESS  ”. Today’s message is titled  “BELATED OFFERING?”  as provided by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise  Genesis 27:20: "And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. " . Today's reading is from  Mark 16:1-6  and the Bible in one year reading for today has been taken from  Jeremiah 36:1:- Jeremiah 38:6 and Psalm 55:16-23 Quoted below is the message for today. God bless you richly for your contribution When Isaac asked Esau his son to go and prepare a delicious meal of venison for him to eat so that he (Isaac) may bless him, Isaac's wife Rebekah heard it and took advantage of the distance between their tents and the field where Esau the hunter would get the bush meat. She also took advantage of the short distanc...
