Open Heavens daily devotional 2014: Tuesday July 1,– PEACE LIKE A RIVER

Topic: PEACE LIKE A RIVER

Memorise:
O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Isaiah 48:18

Read:
Isaiah 48:18-19
18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
Bible in a Year:
Numbers 16-17

Message:

If you desire to combine long life with pleasurable days, you must keep your tongue from evil, do good, and depart from evil. You must seek peace and pursue it. This means that wherever there is a conflict, you must do everything in your power to install peace. You must vigorously follow after peace.
Proverbs 16:7 says,
“When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
From this scripture, we see that there is a link between our relationship with God and the type, duration and extent of our peace.
Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus the Prince of Peace. In other words, Jesus is the manufacturer and true custodian of peace. There is no way you can enjoy lasting peace without first pleasing Him. What kind of peace are you enjoying? The peace that you have is a reflection of your relationship with the Prince of Peace. If you please Him, He can settle the conflicts that exist between you and your enemies. If you want to settle the conflict between you and your enemies or even between you and your loved ones, yet you keep the Prince of Peace at a distance, then you are not yet ready for settlement.

“O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:”
Isaiah 48:18
From this scripture, we see that total obedience to God is one major way to please God and secure peace. Also from this scripture, peace is likened to a river. This implies that peace flows. It is something that other people can draw from. Unfortunately, the peace that some people have is not enough for them, to talk less of extending it to others. God wants to give you peace like a river so that many troubled souls can contact you and find peace. Do you have peace? Can your peace calm the stormy situations of others? Does your peace flow to others? How is your relationship with God? Whatever the situation, it can be better. Improve in your obedience to God and see things change in your favour.

Key Point:
Pleasing God and obeying His commandments are the currency for purchasing God’s peace.

Valentine or Violent-Time (Part 3)

Over the years, some religious folks have defined and classified February 14 as the devil's day. They argue that the Valentine was not a Saint, and even if he was, it was not proper to keep a day to remember him. By God's grace, I have subjected myself to regular study of the scriptures and godly books in several libraries especially the e-libraries. My philosophy has been guided by the knowledge acquired from comparative and HOLYGHOST inspired study. If God is not against Christmas, and Easter, then why should He be against Valentine's Day? Many of us have known so much that we have created our own "Newer Testament" after the new testament of the Holy Bible. Is God against celebrations? Definitely, No! Jesus visited a wedding in Cana, he was at most Jewish feasts, and He organized a feast by feeding, on one occasion, 5,000 men. Our God loves feasting. He loves to see us celebrate. But all feastings must be done in Holiness in order to be approved ...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL-BELATED OFFERING - 08/03/2013

Yesterday’s message was titled “ ARE YOU A FALSE WITNESS  ”. Today’s message is titled  “BELATED OFFERING?”  as provided by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise  Genesis 27:20: "And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. " . Today's reading is from  Mark 16:1-6  and the Bible in one year reading for today has been taken from  Jeremiah 36:1:- Jeremiah 38:6 and Psalm 55:16-23 Quoted below is the message for today. God bless you richly for your contribution When Isaac asked Esau his son to go and prepare a delicious meal of venison for him to eat so that he (Isaac) may bless him, Isaac's wife Rebekah heard it and took advantage of the distance between their tents and the field where Esau the hunter would get the bush meat. She also took advantage of the short distanc...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL - CARE FOR THE BRETHREN-30/04/2014

" CARE FOR THE BRETHREN " In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise   Philippians 4:19 : " But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus ” Today's reading was taken from  Romans 15:25-27  and the Bible reading in one year is   Revelation 8 to Revelation 11 and Psalm 93 (Adeboye, 2014). Quoted below is today's message for your input "Apostle Paul in the Bible reading for today, teaches us one missing ingredient of true discipleship in today’s contemporary Church; which is the ministry of care. Despite the great anointing with which Apostle Paul was ministering to both Jews and Gentiles, it is amazing to read that the ministry of care was not absent from his vocation as a preacher of the gospel. It is also interesting to note that the lives of the early apostles of Jesus Christ were not only in alignment with the teachings of Jesus Christ but were also in alignment with their own teachi...
