Valentine not Violent-time (Part 2)

Valentine not Violent time (Part 2) Exactly 366days ago, I wrote specifically on this topic- It’s Valentine, not violent-time.  The innate passion of pouring my heart to my generation made me differentiate valentine from violent-time. Again, I am writing the second part of this article to buttress my point. On February 14, 2016, I woke up as usual at 5:30am to say my devotion. As I was studying, I remembered that it was a special love Sunday, which we had all envisaged. Prior to this day, I had received numerous invites on special valentine nights out, love Sunday evening services, and others. Stepping out of my house everywhere looked more beautiful than usual as I walked to the church. The colour, red, was flagged all around. Everyone tends to have a touch of red especially the women. Some ladies even had a red bag mixed with red lipsticks, red shoes in short they were reddy or perhaps ready for the day. Some even abused the red color and gave a ludicrous combination of red...

He hasn’t forsaken you!

My six month son is beginning to learn how to crawl and as a father, my job is to encourage him and help him progress faster. So I gave him a task. I put an object he loves so much a little far from him, he looked at me with a stern in his face pondering why daddy do this? Why didn’t he just give me this toy and allow me have fun without stress. Must he allow me to stress myself because I love this toy? Why is daddy treating me like he doesn’t love me? In short, I am not sure my daddy truly loves me! Every time he sees that I love a toy so badly, the next thing he does is to take it away from me for reasons I don’t even know. If my dad loves me like he tells me daily, he shouldn’t allow me to stress myself before he gives me my toy. Several thoughts I guess would be going through the mind of this six month infant. After much attempts by him, he was able to get his most wanted toy. I laughed and was glad that my six month son has passed this hurdle. He forced himself to move ...

It is Valentine not Violent-time!

It all started like this: One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. I have heard of this beautiful story over and over again – Saint Valentine died because he wanted love to be fully expressed. Valentine is all about love and that is why we all try to show it distinctively every February 14 of each year. But our youth, I mean the unmarried, how do they perceive today being February 14, they claim it is valentine but to me, I know it is violent-time . A time when the guys are ready to do anything to have sex with that girl who has proven so tough all along. It is a time w...

The Apostles of Old- What kept on motivating them that we are missing today?

What kept on motivating them that we are missing today? I remembered what Jesus told his disciples before his death that they were going to suffer persecution, trials, and death for his name sake. I am too sure that none of Jesus’ words has ever fallen to the ground from the prophesy of the end time- rumors of wars, nations against nations, rise of false prophets, famines, etc (Matthew 24) to the prophesy of his death. I decided to know how his disciples’ lives ended by searching through websites and e-books. But one thing was common to all their death- they were murdered, accused unfairly and persecuted for preaching the gospel. However, I kept wondering within myself, why did these apostles agree to die for Jesus? Even after seeing how their master Jesus was killed and how their fellow apostles were being killed one after the other; they still maintained their faith and prefer dying for it. In comparison (this I did because we are all going to be judged on the same standard)...

Understanding the Times

Eccl 3:1-9: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Life has been carefully designed and arranged by God in the order of time . See Gen 1:14: And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years : To understanding time is knowledge. To work according to time is wisdom. When you understanding what time you are in, you will know how best to react to every ordeal Quote A man without the understanding of times is a man without direction. A man without the understanding of times is a man that owes humanity. A man without the understanding of times is a man who lives in his shadow (unrealistic) God created times, seasons, days, months and years. If you don’t understand times, you will not know when the winter is over. Imagine a farmer that does not understand times. He will definitely sow while others are harvesting. ...

Love in Practice - Wednesday June 24, 2015 (OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL)

Memorise:  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. -1 John 3:18 Read: 1 John 3:16-18 (KJV) 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. Bible in one Year: 2 Kings 19-20, Luke 11:33-54 MESSAGE: The character of love is seen in practice and not through empty words. This is the reason why John the beloved advised that we should make the expression of love practical. One practical way of expressing love is through giving. The Bible in John 3:16 says that God loved the world, and this love compelled Him to give His only begotten Son, so that men could be saved. It was through the medium of giving that God as...
