OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL- GLORIOUS EXPECTATION- 24/02/2014 MONDAY

Yesterday’s message was titled “CHRIST IN YOU” while today’s message is titled“GLORIOUS EXPECTATION” as given by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise 1 Peter 5:10 " But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his external glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered while, make your perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you and read 2 Kings 7:1-10. The Bible in one year reading for today has been taken from Jeremiah 5:14 to Jeremiah 7:29 and Psalms 44:17-26

Quoted below is the message for today. God bless you for contributing to the discussion, amen.

"A child of God has every right to expect a glorious tomorrow, even if the present situation does not in any way make such optimism look realistic. In the face of uncertainty and the total economic collapse of country, the believer who knows his God will still rightly expect a change for the better, because he knows he serves a God who specialises in giving pleasant surprises to His children. The story of 2 Kings 6 & 7 is not fictional, through it may look incredible. The famine that resulted from the siege of Samaria by its enemies became so devastating that mothers were surviving on their own children. What a terrible thing! Have you ever through about it: even Elisha the great man of God was in the midst of the situation as others? One thing you can be sure of is that God would have taken care of Him for as long as the famine lasted; through that aspect of the story is not revealed in the Bible. In the same way, the Lord is able to take care of you in the midst of any crises, only make sure you trust in Him and obey Him in all things. Pay your tithes, win souls and live holy.

We should not cease trusting God in the place of prayer for desirable changes in the state of affairs of our country as we seek to do His will in all things. In the case of Samaria, God brought about a change with 24 hours at the peak of their national predicament of insecurity that resulted in acute want. By the mouth of His servant, God pronounced great abundance upon the land. The pronouncement brought to an end both the insecurity and famine of the land (2 Kings 7:1&18). So will Boko Haram and its activities be brought to a sudden end in Nigeria in Jesus’ Name. on the other hand, being expectant does not imply sitting down and doing nothing; in the case of Samaria, it took the rising up of four lepers, who decided to go to the camp of the Syrians, only to discover that the Syrians has fled their camp, leaving all their supplies behind. There is always a place of action to your faith, just as the Bible in James 2:17 says:
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
Are you in need of a good job? You have got to take the right step of action. Do you want your business to be more competitive? Diligently get to know what action to take and take it."

The action point for today is to praise God for His mercy over Nigeria and pray for the forgiveness of sins for Nigeria and that God will grant her political leaders the fear of God and the wisdom to run the country.

We pray for an overflow of pleasant surprises in this nation in Jesus Name

Valentine or Violent-Time (Part 3)

Over the years, some religious folks have defined and classified February 14 as the devil's day. They argue that the Valentine was not a Saint, and even if he was, it was not proper to keep a day to remember him. By God's grace, I have subjected myself to regular study of the scriptures and godly books in several libraries especially the e-libraries. My philosophy has been guided by the knowledge acquired from comparative and HOLYGHOST inspired study. If God is not against Christmas, and Easter, then why should He be against Valentine's Day? Many of us have known so much that we have created our own "Newer Testament" after the new testament of the Holy Bible. Is God against celebrations? Definitely, No! Jesus visited a wedding in Cana, he was at most Jewish feasts, and He organized a feast by feeding, on one occasion, 5,000 men. Our God loves feasting. He loves to see us celebrate. But all feastings must be done in Holiness in order to be approved ...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL-BELATED OFFERING - 08/03/2013

Yesterday’s message was titled “ ARE YOU A FALSE WITNESS  ”. Today’s message is titled  “BELATED OFFERING?”  as provided by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise  Genesis 27:20: "And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. " . Today's reading is from  Mark 16:1-6  and the Bible in one year reading for today has been taken from  Jeremiah 36:1:- Jeremiah 38:6 and Psalm 55:16-23 Quoted below is the message for today. God bless you richly for your contribution When Isaac asked Esau his son to go and prepare a delicious meal of venison for him to eat so that he (Isaac) may bless him, Isaac's wife Rebekah heard it and took advantage of the distance between their tents and the field where Esau the hunter would get the bush meat. She also took advantage of the short distanc...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL - CARE FOR THE BRETHREN-30/04/2014

" CARE FOR THE BRETHREN " In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise   Philippians 4:19 : " But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus ” Today's reading was taken from  Romans 15:25-27  and the Bible reading in one year is   Revelation 8 to Revelation 11 and Psalm 93 (Adeboye, 2014). Quoted below is today's message for your input "Apostle Paul in the Bible reading for today, teaches us one missing ingredient of true discipleship in today’s contemporary Church; which is the ministry of care. Despite the great anointing with which Apostle Paul was ministering to both Jews and Gentiles, it is amazing to read that the ministry of care was not absent from his vocation as a preacher of the gospel. It is also interesting to note that the lives of the early apostles of Jesus Christ were not only in alignment with the teachings of Jesus Christ but were also in alignment with their own teachi...
