If
you ever think you can please everyone, then you are still in the dream world.
Yesterday we talked about failing as a part of success. Today is similar and it
is more of living with haters on your success path.
Anyone
who pleases everyone or tries to please everyone needs help. It's a sign that
you are yet to begin destiny fulfillment. Jesus was perfect yet he was hated
for no just reasons. Some hated him because he was from a poor background. Likewise,
people will hate you because your parents are poor. People will hate you
because you speak the truth. People will always hate you for no reason, so get
used to it. Let me share some reasons why I think people hate you:
Because they want to be like you- Some people are just jealous of your achievements. So
they hate you for this.
Because you remind them of their failure-
You passed an exam while they failed.
You got an admission while they are still at home! You got married while they
are still single.
They think you do not deserve what you
have- Even in the church, some think
they are more holy than you. Yet God still shows you mercy. They hate you for
this.
Because they cannot get over you- When they think you are down, something beautiful
happens again in your life. They just can't get over you, so they hate you.
Because they need to put someone down to
feel good about themselves- Some
people believe in putting others down before they can go up. So it gives them
joy to hurt you and to hate you.
Finally, because they are nothing but
losers- Only losers hate! They are
permanent losers. Therefore, they hate you for winning.
Now,
you cannot just control people hating you because God is taking you to places. You
can live above their gimmicks by being smart and God-dependent. You can live
above these haters by using these smart keys below
First,
be smart enough to identify most of them. So that you will not be living and dining
with the devil.
Learn
how to understudy people. Read them from their words, actions and more
importantly their intentions. No matter how they speak well, their actions and
intentions will always open their hatred. Do not give in too much to people.
Know your friends and more importantly know your enemies.
Jeff
Cooper said "A smart man only believes half of what he hears, a wise man
knows which half."
Second,
Never Hate a Hater! You can never overcome evil with evil. Never! A quote I
like so much by Henry Emerson Fosdick says, "Hating people is like burning
down your own house to get rid of a rat". Our famous Martin Luther King
Jnr said Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate
cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Never retaliate or revenge hate
with hate. Instead as the scriptures said give your enemies water and you will
be heaping coals of fire on their head.
More
importantly, be God-dependent. We are very familiar with the story of David the
shepherd boy and King Saul. After David helped King Saul to kill Goliath, Saul
hated David with passion because David was fast becoming more relevant than
him. He plotted several times to kill David. However, even when David had the
opportunity to kill Saul, He refused to do that. Instead he was dependent on
God for revenge.
God
has special ways of retaliating for his children. He does it sweeter than you
can imagine. So why planning a revenge tactics? Let God do His thing. Be
totally dependent on God. The Bible tells us how much God loves us and that
extent He can go to fight for us. So never try to help God. He will fight for
you. Some of us think we are helping God
by hurting our haters. No! Instead we are even pushing God away from our side. Job
22:30 KJV says, "He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is
delivered by the pureness of thine hands. But what happens when you have lost
your innocence? What happens when you have stained your hands with revenge? God
will no longer deliver you. That is the scripture!
Finally
as I round up, keep in mind that people will hate you for no just reason
because they hated Jesus. But you can help yourself by being smart (use our
smart keys listed above) and God-dependent. I end with a quote from Will Smith:
Throughout life people will make you
mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do,
cause hate in your heart will consume you too.
