OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL-ATTRIBUTES OF A GOAL GETTER

Memorise:
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business.? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Proverbs 22:29

Read:
1 Samuel 17:48-50

Bible in one year;
1Thessalonians 1-4, Psalm 19:7-14

The children of Israel were intimidated for forty days by Goliath. David came to the scene and made enquiries about what would be done to whosoever defeated the giant. The reply he got fascinated him and straightaway, he set for himself the goal of defeating the giant. To David, nothing could stop him from being the king's son-in-law. When Eliab, David's brother heard about his Intention, he rebuked him. Eliab was angry with David because he was jealous. He was jealous because David had been anointed as king instead of him earlier on. Goal getters would not be deterred by any act of jealousy. What did David do to reach his goal? He ignored Eliab. Anyone who wants to reach his or her goal must not be distracted by envious criticism. If your goal is to work for God, do not listen to what anybody may be saying. Focus our attention on the Almighty God and do not be mindful of’ the scornful (Psalm 1:1 ). You have to press on if you want to reach your goal. There will be those who may want to slow you down but you have to push them out of the way and keep doing what you know God wants you to do. This is one way to reach your goal.

There are many lessons in the Bible reading of today for those who aspire to achieve the set goals of their life. It is not how long but how well. Within a short period of getting to the battlefield, David was already standing before the king! The Bible in Proverbs 22:29 says,“Seest thou a man diligent in his business.? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
If David had not been a diligent person, when his brother rebuked him, he would never have gotten to King Saul; he would have been discouraged. It took diligence for David to run towards the battle when the giant rose to crush him to death. The Bible in 1 Samuel 17:48 says:
"And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.”
The rest was history for Goliath when the smooth stone from the sling of David sank into his forehead. As if that was not enough, when Goliath fell, the Bible says that David still ran and stood upon the Philistine, took the sword of the giant all by himself and cut off his head. David was diligent enough to feel the pulse of the Philistine to know that he was still breathing. He then diligently completed the assignment. I pray that as you focus on God with diligence and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will reach your goal in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer point
Father, please remove all obstacles hindering me from reaching my goal in Jesus Name.

Valentine or Violent-Time (Part 3)

Over the years, some religious folks have defined and classified February 14 as the devil's day. They argue that the Valentine was not a Saint, and even if he was, it was not proper to keep a day to remember him. By God's grace, I have subjected myself to regular study of the scriptures and godly books in several libraries especially the e-libraries. My philosophy has been guided by the knowledge acquired from comparative and HOLYGHOST inspired study. If God is not against Christmas, and Easter, then why should He be against Valentine's Day? Many of us have known so much that we have created our own "Newer Testament" after the new testament of the Holy Bible. Is God against celebrations? Definitely, No! Jesus visited a wedding in Cana, he was at most Jewish feasts, and He organized a feast by feeding, on one occasion, 5,000 men. Our God loves feasting. He loves to see us celebrate. But all feastings must be done in Holiness in order to be approved ...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL-BELATED OFFERING - 08/03/2013

Yesterday’s message was titled “ ARE YOU A FALSE WITNESS  ”. Today’s message is titled  “BELATED OFFERING?”  as provided by Pastor E. A. Adeboye in Open Heavens Devotional (Adeboye, 2014). In today’s message, we have been asked to memorise  Genesis 27:20: "And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. " . Today's reading is from  Mark 16:1-6  and the Bible in one year reading for today has been taken from  Jeremiah 36:1:- Jeremiah 38:6 and Psalm 55:16-23 Quoted below is the message for today. God bless you richly for your contribution When Isaac asked Esau his son to go and prepare a delicious meal of venison for him to eat so that he (Isaac) may bless him, Isaac's wife Rebekah heard it and took advantage of the distance between their tents and the field where Esau the hunter would get the bush meat. She also took advantage of the short distanc...

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL-LOVE & SPIRITUAL GIFTS [Friday May 23, 2014]

  LOVE & SPIRITUAL GIFTS [Friday May 23, 2014] Memorise: Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.   1 Corinthians 14:1 Bible in a Year: Genesis 48-50; Psalm 108 Read:   1 Corinthians 12:1-2 1  Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2  Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Message: Our God is the Almighty. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is also good and His mercy endures forever. One character of God that is transmissible through us is love. How do we show that we know God? It is by showing His love ( 1 John 4:8 ). Let us love one another. Let’s demonstrate the love of God to our brethren. Let’s show them that we care. The people we are to show love to includes those that are lovable and those that do not deserve our love. Do you love your critics? Do you love your persecutors? Do you love the un...
